Rutgers School of Law–Newark and the John M. Payne Memorial Committee
Proudly Announce the Establishment of the John M. Payne Memorial Fund
The Fund will support activities at the law school related to Professor John M. Payne’s academic and professional interests in constitutional law, historic preservation, housing and land use planning. These activities include designating a faculty member as the John M. Payne Scholar – a position that provides a stipend for faculty research; employing students as research assistants; organizing materials in the Mt. Laurel Archive; holding symposia; inviting speakers; and any other activities related to John’s interests. The Dean of the law school shall administer the fund with the advice of a faculty committee.
Our goal is to establish an endowment, which would enable the law school to use the interest on the Fund for the activities described above. An endowment requires a minimum of $50,000. If we do not reach our goal of $50,000, monies contributed will become an annual restricted fund to support these activities for so long as the Fund remains solvent.
We are already on our way; however we need your help. Please give generously to honor John’s memory.
